She's reported on sports for some of the biggest outlets across the globe. She covered football, basketball as well as Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. Nichols started a nine-year stint at ESPN which saw her win the two Emmy Awards, and featured on a number of the network's best programs, including NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. The Monday Night Football coverage as a team reporter was part of her work with the network. Her next move was CNN followed by Turner Sports. Unguarded the show, which she produced and hosted, aired each week on CNN International. Over 1 billion viewers saw it on the air worldwide. In the course of this broadcast, Nichols covered TNT's NBA broadcasts, including the regular season, playoffs and the All-Star broadcast teams. Her duties with TBS covered golf and baseball coverage as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. This is the first time in the award's 42-year-old tradition that a woman has been nominated amongst the more than 200 nominations.
